Helping Veterans stay safe

For many Veterans, home is supposed to be a place of safety and stability. But when necessary repairs become too expensive or physically difficult to complete, even a small problem can quickly become a serious hardship.

Restoring Hope is a Warriors Haven initiative dedicated to helping Veterans and their families remain safely and independently in their homes by addressing essential home repairs and improvements.

Through the generosity of volunteers, local businesses, contractors, churches, and community partners, Warriors Haven brings people and resources together to help Veterans who may not have the financial or physical ability to complete necessary repairs themselves.

Each project begins by identifying the Veteran's needs and determining how Warriors Haven and our community partners can make the greatest impact. Restoring Hope projects may include:

Miss Vernell's New Deck & Kitchen

Completed

With the incredible support of Team Depot from Home Depot Store #1120, Warriors Haven was able to give Miss Vernell a brand new deck — replacing what she had with a safe, sturdy space she can enjoy for years to come.

The project didn't stop there. We were also able to replace appliances that hadn't worked in quite some time. Through generous donations, Miss Vernell's kitchen received a new stove top, dishwasher, 24-inch wall oven, and a new sink — turning a kitchen she could barely use back into the heart of her home. The kitchen renovation and appliance installations were completed by retired Navy Veteran Craig Vanderbilt — one Veteran serving another.

From framing and construction to yard care and cleanup, dozens of Team Depot volunteers gave their time, skills, and materials to make the deck build happen. We're also grateful to Bin There Dump That, who donated a dumpster so the old, unsafe deck could be safely removed and hauled away before the new build began. This is exactly what Restoring Hope is about — a community showing up to make sure a Veteran knows they haven't been forgotten.

More than a home repair

Restoring Hope isn't simply about fixing a leaking faucet, repairing a wall, painting a room, or building a ramp.

It's about helping a Veteran maintain their independence. It's about relieving the burden of a repair they may have been worrying about for months. It's about reminding our Veterans that their community hasn't forgotten them.

Sometimes restoring a home can help restore something much greater — hope.

It takes a community

We cannot do this alone.

Restoring Hope depends on people and organizations willing to step forward and serve. Contractors can donate their skills. Businesses can provide materials. Volunteers can give their time. Churches and community organizations can sponsor projects. Donors can help provide the resources necessary to complete repairs.

Every contribution — whether it's a few hours of labor, building materials, professional expertise, or financial support — helps us serve another Veteran.
